The axiology of intellectual capacity deficit in aphoristic utterances

This paper is devoted to the verbalization of the deficit of cognitive abilities in aphoristic sentences. Age, gender and axiological characteristics of stupidity are studied. The paper shows tha that intelligence can be subdivided into four basic modes.: Intelligence as a “normal” degree of cognitive abilitiesas opposed to stupidity which indicated a low degree of these abilities. Ethical evaluation of cognitive abilities allows for the opposition of wisdom to cunning.

The speech genre of chreia: Historical background and typology

The paper explores various types of chreia (declarative, responsive, scholastic , etc.) as a didactic genre. These various types include those that are still unresearched in the Russian linguistic literature, e.g., e.g., chriod, ethology, double chreia, and others This language phenomenon is analyzed and systematized and its correlation with a system of adjacent categories is specified. Chreia is juxtaposed to a) enres, such as gnome, parable, fable, and proverb. b) figures of speech, primarily to description and allegory.

Genre base of lingvoimagological analysis

Lingvomagology is a new branch of linguistic theory of communication it describes the image (hence the term) of one people or a country in the linguistic consciousness of other people. lingvoimagology studies its verbalization. The subject of lingvoimagology is an assessment, stereotypes, rituals, precedent phenomena, paralinguistic situations.

Speech genre as means of creating the communicative strategies and tactics (based on the genre of buffoonery in British culture)

The article is devoted to the study of one of the aspects of the speech genre «buffoonery», which has been formed and become very popular lately within the British culture. The problem of the relationship between the concepts of a speech genre, a speech act, a communicative strategy etc. are widely discussed in the linguistic literature. It gets obvious that there can be no clear and definite differentiation of these concepts. All the concepts mentioned can be designated by the same way according to the angle of their consideration and their functioning in the text.

Linguocultural specifics of Chinese narrative genres

The paper covers part of the results obtained by a group of scholars from Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University during the work on the project: «Narrative as a medium of conceptualisation of reality in the context of Russian-Chinese intercultural communication» supported by the Russian Foundation for Humanities. The authors explain the theoretical approaches, methods and key dimensions of narrative analysis. They further analyse the culturally specific Chinese narrative genres «chuanqi», «huaben», «huagu», «errenzhuan», «shulaibao», etc.

Rethinking of fratricide myth in fiction text

The article deals with a mythological plot “fratricide” treated as the embodiment of archetypical sin – murder of one’s kin. Associative extension of this crime and its participants is described. Main lines of murderer’s behavior are grudge and uncontrolled fury caused by envy and strife for primacy. Fratricide was repeatedly represented in fiction texts. Various approaches to this plot are analyzed as presented in prose, drama and poetry by S. Gessner, S. Coleridge, G.B. Byron, A. Tarkovsky, R. Shusterovich, G. Kanevsky, A. Barkova, J. Minot, A. Zheleznov.

The problem of genre in the early historical cycle of A. F. Pisemsky

The article deals with the problems of cycle specificity Pisemsky ? prose earlu period.  It studies the scantily explored unknown A.F.Pisemsky ? суclе about Russian mentality?? phenomenon. This is historical cycle (1857-1862). This cycle are historical  portrats of generations before and after the reform. It is composed of the four pieces: novelette “Вraggart”, story “The old man? sin”, short storys: “Dad”, “Old lady”. The stories and  novelettes  are two parts. Two parts are contrasts and parallels in  the story, hero demonstrates his action and resultat.

THE WORLD INSIDE OUT: CARNIVALIZATION OF LINGUOCULTURAL CONCEPT IN AFORISMS

It is considered the phenomenon of carnivalization as temporary inversion of axiological meanings in the field of linguocultural concepts. Language means for creating the comical and its specific functions operating here are studied, it is established that the pathos of universal philosophical concepts is removed by carnivalization.

THE FUNCTIONS OF CONVERSATIONAL PARTICLES IN DIFFERENT SPEECH GENRES IN THE POETRY OF A. T. TVARDOVSKY

The study is devoted to revealing of features conversational particle in some speech genres, which the reflected A. T. Tvardovsky in the poetic text space. Simple modal particles “yourself”, “you” are similar to identical in form with pronouns, their part-of-speech identity is determined by context. Contextual classified as particle-pronoun “me,” they are conversational. Identified functions that are implemented conversational particles and particle-pronoun in the monologue and dialogue of the characters, as well as in the speech of the author.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION IN RUSSIAN AND AMERICAN STORIES, SEPARATED BY THE XX CENTURY: WHAT DETERMINES QUANTITATIVE RATIOS OF NARRATION TO COMMUNICATION AND DIRECT TO COMPRESSED SPEECH?

The article examines ratios of narrative and communicative components in Russian and American realistic stories at the turn of XIX–XX and XX–XXI centuries, and also the ratios (in these very texts) between two categories of the communicative structure of the text – direct and compressed speech. It is shown that three main factors of differences (belonging to one of two national literary traditions. diachronic distinctions.
