The “Environmental Debate” Genre

In relation to serious global climatic changes, there is an activation of speech acts within the framework of ecological discourse. The analyzed material allows discussing the emergence of a new type of speech genre of debates, such as environmental debates (ED). TV companies organize ED as part of election campaigns and for the purpose of obtaining information about the current processes from specialists of related fields. ED differ from classical debates in a number of their characteristics.

В связи с серьезными глобальными климатическими изменениями наблюдается активизация речевых актов в рамках экологического дискурса. Проанализированный материал позволяет говорить о появлении нового речевого жанра – экологические дебаты (ЭД). Телекомпании организуют проведение ЭД как в рамках предвыборных гонок, так и с целью получения информации о происходящих процессах от специалистов смежных областей. ЭД отличаются от классических дебатов по ряду своих характеристик.

On universal anthropological characteristics of speech genre communication

The article continues the research published in “Speech Genres”, 2020, no. 3. The reliability and consistency of communication in a wide range of speech genres differ in terms of basic quality characteristics of the communication process itself and its final outcome. The main objective of the article is to specify and to reinforce the evidence base of our assumptions connected with the typical structural aspects of different speech genre formations in view of their reliability and consistency.

The article deals with such universal anthropological characteristics of speech genres as the reliability and consistency of a communicative event, its targeted interactive potential.

The article deals with the problem of the relationship between two linguistic theories: a speech genre theory and a speech act theory. The research is based on the genre of a contact excursion. From the point of view of genre studies a contact excursion is a speech genre and it can be described using the “speech genre questionnaire” proposed by T. V.
