CASE (GENRE, CONCEPT, WORD) IN LEGAL SPHERE’S ANTHROPOLOGY

The article is dedicated to cognitive representation of discourse and genre interrelation of two phenomenon of legal and business discourses: the document with the title "Case" and the very nomination – the word and the concept "business". The author shows that conceptual foundation of these phenomena is two mental categories which are closely-related in conceptualization of social existence: these are actional nature of social relations (business, affairs) and social conception of an individual (person, personality).

BANTER IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LINGUA-CULTURES

The research is devoted to the comparative analysis of banter in English and Russian lingua-cultures. The comparative analysis of the given type is being done for the first time in the home linguistics. The short analysis of the works by home and foreign linguists devoted to the studying of distinctive characteristics of banter has been done in the research.

BLACKMAIL: SPEECH ACT VS SPEECH GENRE

This article is devoted to the analysis of the speech genre of «blackmail» in the interpersonal everyday communication. We specify the concept of «blackmail» in relation to the everyday communication in comparison with the related concept used in the legal discourse. The paper defines blackmail as a kind of manipulative psycho-emotional impact intended to obtain the benefits by means of threatening to harm the recipient.

VERBAL ASSOCIATIONS AS A COMPLEMENTARY SOURCE OF MATERIAL IN COMPLEX STUDY OF SPEECH GENRES

Modern linguists are trying to solve the problem of determining the boundaries of the genre, its variability or transition to another genre. But until now this issue remains controversial. The article is devoted to the problem of the functioning of the speech genre in various spheres of communication.

NEW LIFE OF THE OLD GENRE: TO THE PROBLEM OF VARIABILITY IN THE GENRE

The article deals with the controversial problem of  variability in the speech genre. Briefly, different approaches to understanding the variant in linguistic literature are highlighted. On the example of comparison of well-studied appeal genres in political discourse and slogan in the advertising discourse, they are offered an understanding of them as variants of one genre. The authors’ point of view is justified by the coincidence of the communicative goal (illocutionary function) and a minor modification of other genre-forming features.

ASPECTS OF FRANKNESS OF THE REFUSAL BASED ON PERSONAL PRINCIPLES (CATEGORICAL REFUSAL)

Russian frankness in a linguocultural aspect has been researched by some Russian linguists, such as E. M. Vereschagin, V. V. Dementyev, etc. A vast list of literature referred to this issue can be found in the dissertation of M. M. Naumova. The article suggests considering frankness as one of the constants of Russian linguoculture through the speech genre of refusal. The above mentioned genre is a large communicative phenomenon. Categorical refusal is a speech genre which requires frankness leading to effective communication.

The “Life” Concept in the Speech Genre of the Autobiographical Story: Constants and Transformation (Based on Dialect Speech)

The article deals with recent problems of correlation of a speech genre and culture and fits into the context of modern researches in cognitive, dialect genre studies and cognitive dialectology. A key concept for Russian culture “Life”, functioning in dialect autobiographical texts, recorded in Tomsk region from the middle of the 20th century till the present time, is described in the article. These texts are considered as a speech genre. Ideas about life, which do not change or change over time under the influence of certain factors, are identified.

Diary as a Lyrical Speech Genre

The diary is a lyrical speech genre, if we consider speech genres from the point of view of the universal triad that goes back to the antiquity – epic, lyric and drama. Diary is a recognition of the special price of the word, consistently saving a grain of everyday life experience. The article outlines the idea of a two-step indirect diary addressee. The first step: «I» is the author, meaning him(her)self in some future tense. The second step is the turn to the descendants, to an unknown reader-interlocutor, to likely biographers, etc. – on demand.

The Verbalization of the Siberians Combatants’ Wishes Used in Letters From the Front in the Days of the Great Patriotic War (Based on the Letters of Krasnoyarsk Territory Citizens Mobilized to the Front)

The article is devoted to the linguistic description of the means of verbalizing the wishes written by Siberians combatants in their letters from the Front during the Great Patriotic War. The research of verbalization of the wishes has been carried out in terms of linguistic personology and represents a part of the study concerning the pragmatic level of the collective language personality of a combatant as a person who is part of the armed forces and taking part in armed hostilities.

Personal Statement as a Genre of Academic Discourse in English

The paper focuses on the research into motivation letters as an integral part of an academic application process. The author claims that writing effective motivation letters needs a deeper understanding of inherent strategies and tactics. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis of successful letters showcased by American, Canadian and European universities, the author reveals some tactics and topics that the applicants use to impress admission officers.
