Tonal-pragmatic characteristics of politeness and impoliteness in different speech genres

The paper deals with tonal and pragmatic characteristics of politeness and anti-politeness expressing benevolent or unfriendly, serious or non-serious attitude to the communicative partner in personal or status discourse. The paper is based on the assumption that there is a genre specificity of politeness expression. An important indicator of the ethno-cultural specificity of politeness is the priority of respectful attitude towards in-group and out-group members. Politeness is a graded communicative phenomenon.

Акцентированная драматургичность риторических жанров

В статье рассматривается акцентированный тип драматургичности дискурса на примере риторических жанров обыденного дискурса – комплимента, обмена колкостями, флирта. Методологическим основанием изучения феномена драматургичности дискурса служат презентационная теория дискурса, концепция социальной драматургии, теория непрямой коммуникации, исследования жанровой природы дискурсивного мышления. Важная задача моделирования драматургичности дискурса – изучение закономерностей в общении, уточнение системы норм общества.

Student comments on a professor’s rating as an evaluating speech genre in Russian and American educational discourse

This article focuses on the speech genre “student comments on a professor’s rating” which belongs to the domain of quality assurance in higher education. Both aspects are meaningful for the theory of speech genres and the system of higher education. The article analyses the communicative concept “student feedback on teaching” which is related to the speech genre under research.

Axiological genristics: aspects of a problem «evaluation and genre»

The article is devoted to one of the most important and obvious aspects of speech genres – relation of speech genres and evaluation. This issue is im-portant not only for the theory of speech genres, but also for linguistics in general, although it is far from being solved. We discuss the key concept of this problem – “form of evaluation” – a kind of genre norms that determine, on the one hand, the pragmatic, stylistic, linguistic modeling of evaluative actions, on the other – the differences between adjacent evaluative genres.

Oral professional dialogue as a complex speech genre

The article is devoted to the genre qualifications of oral professional dialogue, which is a little-known variety of informal verbal interaction among specialists. It is argued that professional communication, as opposed to other kinds of communication, is included in the context of professional activity, which is characterized by purposefulness, effectiveness and public significance.
