The paper deals with tonal and pragmatic characteristics of politeness and anti-politeness expressing benevolent or unfriendly, serious or non-serious attitude to the communicative partner in personal or status discourse. The paper is based on the assumption that there is a genre specificity of politeness expression. An important indicator of the ethno-cultural specificity of politeness is the priority of respectful attitude towards in-group and out-group members. Politeness is a graded communicative phenomenon.

The negative-evaluative speech acts of aggressive nature, operating in the Russian pedagogical discourse are studied in this paper. The Kazakhstan secondary schools teachers’ oral speeches in the lessons framework are chosen as the research material.

The research is devoted to the comparative analysis of banter in English and Russian lingua-cultures. The comparative analysis of the given type is being done for the first time in the home linguistics. The short analysis of the works by home and foreign linguists devoted to the studying of distinctive characteristics of banter has been done in the research.
