Rumors in the paradigm of linguistic genristics

The present article provides a comprehensive analysis of rumors as an informative genre transmitting unauthorized news. The goal of this genre is mass distribution of initially oral current news, the authorship and reliability (veracity) of which are uncertain and for which no one is liable.

Speech genre as means of creating the communicative strategies and tactics (based on the genre of buffoonery in British culture)

The article is devoted to the study of one of the aspects of the speech genre «buffoonery», which has been formed and become very popular lately within the British culture. The problem of the relationship between the concepts of a speech genre, a speech act, a communicative strategy etc. are widely discussed in the linguistic literature. It gets obvious that there can be no clear and definite differentiation of these concepts. All the concepts mentioned can be designated by the same way according to the angle of their consideration and their functioning in the text.

BLACKMAIL: SPEECH ACT VS SPEECH GENRE

This article is devoted to the analysis of the speech genre of «blackmail» in the interpersonal everyday communication. We specify the concept of «blackmail» in relation to the everyday communication in comparison with the related concept used in the legal discourse. The paper defines blackmail as a kind of manipulative psycho-emotional impact intended to obtain the benefits by means of threatening to harm the recipient.

The Russian Construction “ya by na tvoyom meste/ty by na moyom meste” (“if i were you/if you were me”): about the Link between the I-sphere and the Choice of a Speech Genre

The construction analyzed in the article can be used both on the speaker’s initiative and in response to a request. It is characteristic of two speech genres, advice and compliment. The hypothetical substitution of ya (me) with ty (you) (ya by na tvoyom meste/if I were you) and ty (you) with ya (me) (ty by na moyom meste/ if you were me) can trigger conflict, to a greater or lesser extent.

Contact excursion: Speech genre vs communicative event

The article deals with the problem of the relationship between two linguistic theories: a speech genre theory and a speech act theory. The research is based on the genre of a contact excursion. From the point of view of genre studies a contact excursion is a speech genre and it can be described using the “speech genre questionnaire” proposed by T. V.
