The thematic issue of the journal deals with a wide range of issues related to the manifestations of (im/anti)politeness in various genres functioning in both real and virtual environments. It is shown that nowadays research on politeness is not prescriptive or limited to the analysis of etiquette formulas– it is carried out from the perspective of discourse analysis, in conjunction with the social context, communicative situations, established ethical norms and value orientations.
