“Lurkmore.ru” vs. “Wikipedia” = “informally” vs. “formally”?

In the article two fundamentally different varieties of well-known in the modern Russian-language Internet genre of anonymous collective encyclopedia – Russian Wikipedia and Lurkmore.ru – have been discussed. Originally created as a carnival, a postmodern parody of Wikipedia, Lurkmore.ru develops some new traits, such as judgmental subjectivity, arising from the desire of authors to demonstrate not only their creativity, but also sincerity, courage and freedom. But the main feature of Lurkmore.ru, according to the author, appears to be informality.

Text transformation under the influence of the genre system of communicative internet space social media services (based on english-language political sites)

The article addresses the problems of computer-mediated communication and convergent characteristics of Internet contributing to genres 2.0 system formation and development, which has essentially transformed the basic notion of the text. The notion of political media text is specified within new media context, main characteristics of media texts are defined and an attemp of media texts typology building as well as linguistic analysis on their lexical, morphological and syntactical levels is made.

Public Internet discussions on faith: The problem of persuasion effectiveness

Considering effective communication, linguists traditionally focus on the type of the addressee and the conditions of their interaction with the addresser. The paper analyzes some transformations of oral genres on the Internet, including public discussions on the role of Orthodox faith in modern life, the functions of the religion in the spiritual and moral education of the contemporary society and its relation to the scientific breakthroughs of the 21st century. The analysis of video materials shows that their main addressee is the youth audience.

Genre of New Year greetings in social networks

The article examines the content and stylistic features of modern greeting discourse in social networks based on the texts of the professional community of business coaches and communication specialists in social networks. This type of greeting discourse is conventionally referred to a written electronic formal professional discourse variety. The content and style of these texts, on the one hand, preserve the cultural traditions of greeting speech rhetoric, on the other hand, they require innovative ideas and new means of expression.

On the Internet genre of ritual (based on new baby greetings)

The article focuses on the genre characteristics of online new baby greetings. The author investigates texts appearing in three cultures – Russian, German and Polish with a reference to earlier observations of «adult» greeting presented in the article «The Mental Scenarios and the Internet Centre Etiquette of Different Cultures (based on online greeting in four languages)» (2012). The author regards internet genres as remarkably similar to folklore and therefore likely to reflect the national culture-related way of thinking in a particular period of time.

The construction of genre typology of the social media

This article focuses on the development of a new trend in the digital genre theory of the computer-mediated communication (CMC). It is an extension of the offline genres theory but appled to the communicative space of the world wide web. The task of of defining criteria for the speech genres in the communicative space of the Internet is extremely complex and many-fold.. As a result we observe a diversity of classifications of the newcommunicative environment which arise under the influence of social media.

The research is devoted to the consideration of mockery as a contemporary communicative phenomenon. The article describes trends of the modification in the genre mass media field, a characterization of some sociocultural background and preconditions of mockery’s origin is discussed, two variants of mockery – intellectual and marginal – are distinguished. Mockery as a sociocultural phenomenon appears as a result of carnivalization, critical evaluation and parody, which are based on the means of the comic – irony, satire, sarcasm.

The genres of the personal internet discourse: communicative explications of a person

This article makes clear the formation and functioning of the genre system of the personal Internet discourse and it focuses on the determination of the characteristics of actual forms of verbal behaviour. The article was carried out in the paradigm of anthropological linguistics. Personal Internet discourse is defined as a socio-communicative space in witch personal interactions of a person as individual and a society member take place.

Dialogism in the genres of internet communication (chat, forum, blog)

The article deals with the timely problems of modern communicative linguistics and virtual genristics. In the article, the essence of the dialogism category is defined in relation to both traditional communication (not technically mediated and non related with electronic media environment), and in relation to Internet communication, where the studied category has its own characteristics. With the base on the lexicographical sources, the differences in the conceptual content and the use of the terms «dialogism» and «interactivity» are established.
