The linguistic structure of Anna Kiryanova’s psychological essays: Axiology, didacticism, directivenes
The research is based on psychological essays of a psychologist, philosopher, and writer Anna Kiryanova, posted on the Zen platform in 2018–2025. Speech genre innovations and speech genre synthesis are analyzed from the point of view of axiology, didacticism, and directiveness. Depending on the degree of obligatory nature, the author singles out the following pragmatic types of direct and indirect directives: 1) the most obligatory and most formalized “rules”, most often with this word; 2) obligatory statements: you must, you have to; 3) highly formalized, but less obligatory advice (most often with this word) and instructions (with the word “way”/“way to do …”), also including infinitives with the word “how” (including those with “not”), primarily in headings; 4) indirect expression of directiveness through evaluative statements/evaluative lexemes; 5) deductive indirect statements without direct evaluation; 6) the least obligatory and least directive (deductive) life stories, historical and literary plots. The research focuses on linguistic means of influence, expression, and suggestion used by A. Kiryanova to express pragmatic types of directives: lexical means (a frequency dictionary has been compiled); grammatical means (imperative mood, future tense of verbs); irony; metaphor. It is shown that thematically, irony in Kiryanova’s essays is most often associated with material values, human greed. Metaphors also correspond to this small variety of irony: only value, food, and artifact models of metaphorization are represented widely, in which the naming of consumption functions is transferred to human relations. A separate micro-study deals with the reconstruction of the author’s value image.
