Linguistic and cultural characteristics of the speech genre “wish”

The paper deals with the speech genre “wish” treated as emotional and volitive communicative event, its meaning is an expressed wish of implementation of something good or bad for somebody. Grammatically, this genre is a kind of mood named “optative”. It is a speech act describing a certain situation which implies an emotional reaction of a person. The reaction of an addressee for a good wish is usually expressed in words or gestures of gratitude. In case of a bad wish expressed directly it merges with a quarrel and a reverse bad wish.

Cultural knowledge as the conceptual basis of the speech genre of religious instruction (based on media discourse)

In the modern media environment covering all fields of human endeavour different types of discourse, religious ones with their genres as well, get representation. The speech genre of religious instruction seems to be most widely spread. The genre under discussion is viewed as a part of the primary genre in the religious discourse – preaching which is presupposed to interpret principles of practical usage of religious postulates and rules.

Genre and discourse conditionality of concept meaning (on the example of the concept ‘youth’)

The article deals with variational nature of concepts on the example of the concept ‘youth’. The authors show that concepts as knowledge storage structures are modified under the influence of communicative usage and discourse preferences peculiar to different spheres of communication and genre forms. The analysis is based on the contexts selected from the National Corpus of the Russian Language with the differentiation of texts by types (functional spheres) and genre varieties.

Repentance: human life, activity concept or genre?

The phenomenon of «repentance» has been analyzed from the perspective of various sciences: communicative linguistics, linguocognitology, genristics, theolinguistics. Repentance is a genuine recognition of the fault, error, sin, regret at the offense. This understanding is related to a domestic repentance – a strong emotional experience, which is correlated with a sense of shame for him/herself and his/her actions (a secular approach to this phenomenon). In the spotlight is the intersection of the repentance concept with the repentance genre and dialogue.

Linguocognitive typology of speech genres: On the basis of an essay.

This article suggests a comprehensive analysis of the complex speech genres as a way to study the variability of their model and as an instrument of developing the general classification of complex speech genres.

GENRE IN THE COGNITIVE PERSPECTIVE

The article is devoted to the search for the answer to the question what the cognitive approach to the genre means. The author believes that the goal of the cognitive studies of the genre is to build its mental model, reflecting its representation in the minds of the reader and writer.

The “Life” Concept in the Speech Genre of the Autobiographical Story: Constants and Transformation (Based on Dialect Speech)

The article deals with recent problems of correlation of a speech genre and culture and fits into the context of modern researches in cognitive, dialect genre studies and cognitive dialectology. A key concept for Russian culture “Life”, functioning in dialect autobiographical texts, recorded in Tomsk region from the middle of the 20th century till the present time, is described in the article. These texts are considered as a speech genre. Ideas about life, which do not change or change over time under the influence of certain factors, are identified.

To the Question of Genre Features of Preambles to Constitutions

The article presents the results of a study of the genre parameters of the preamble to the Constitution of the Russian Federation and preambles to the constitutions of the republics that are part of the Russian Federation. The following aspects are considered as genre parameters (genre­forming factors): (a) rele­vance to the text of a law of a certain sub-­genre type. (b) subject matter. (c) communicative func­tions. (d) subject composition (images of the author, addressor and addressee). (e) spatio­-temporal and other circumstantial characteristics.
