Variability in the manifestation of authorship in academic abstracts: Comparison of humanitarian and natural science discourses

The article deals with the problem of the intradiscursive variability of the speech genre of the abstract. The article aims to identify the variability of the manifestation of the author's principle in the verbal genre of abstract functioning in academic discourse. 38 Russian-language abstracts to linguistic academic articles published in the journal “Genres of Speech” in 2023 and 34 Russian-language abstracts to biological academic articles published in the “Journal of General Biology” in 2022 were selected as the base of the study.

To the Question of the Authorization of Texts and Genres of media

The article considers the phenomenon of authorization, understood as the conscious or unconscious expression in the text of the personality of its Creator as revealed through the analysis of specific linguistic resources. A valid authorization is a problem for modern media, as recently in journalistic texts, more and more blurred her form of expression, and it has even become one of the main reasons for the dehumanization of modern media.

Object Clauses in Academic Discourse: Genre Preferences

The author of the article understands object clauses as a semantic type of sentences with a set of different ways of expressing semantics: polypredicative subordinate clauses, asyndetic clauses, monopredicative clauses, clauses with parenthesis. It is suggested that the set of constructions used in academic discourse depends on the genre of the academic text. The genres of article abstracts and thesis summaries as secondary texts (texts about texts) were chosen as a material for a comparative study.
