This review presents a new monograph by Wolfgang Gladrow and Elisaveta Kotorova devoted to basic notions and methodology of intercultural verbal behavior. The increased necessity in the theoretical foundation of contrastive studies to the one hand and systematization of typical intercourse situations to the other shows the actuality of the research. In the monograph, the both tasks are solved.
The review is a response to the publication of the monograph by M. A. Kanturov and T. I. Staksova “Productivity and variability of speech genres”. The authors represent the Russian speech-and -genre space as a complicated non-rigid system, the units of which are interconnected by the relations of derivation and variability. The relevance of the study is justified by the need to develop models that summarize numerous empirical observations on the structure and functioning of individual genres and groups of genres.
Review on «Dictionary of response remarks in Russian dialogical speech» by V. T. Bondarenko. The dictionary is based on a concept that is developed from the idea of dialogism of human consciousness. The object of study is response remarks, i.e. words and phraseological units whose illocutionary purpose is to respond to a word or phrase of another participant of the dialogue. They are characterized by stability in language and reproducibility in speech.
