The feuilletons of the “12 Chairs Club”: Satire as the key to Bakhtin’s “co-creation of those who understand”

Satire is a way of critical comprehention of the reality, allowing a journalist to implicitly express a negative assessment of socially significant phenomena, forming a certain civic position in the audience. One of the satirical genres of speech is the feuilleton. Understanding the content of the feuilleton and the socio-cultural context that gave rise to it, identifying the problem reflected in it and finding ways to solve it make the reader a participant in the process that M. M. Bakhtin called “co-creation of those who understand”.

From classics to modernism: The genre of parallel in feuilleton criticism

The article deals with the genre and technique of parallel in feuilleton criticism of the early 20th century. The introduction examines theoretical works on various aspects of the analyzed phenomenon and formulates the task of the research – to expand theoretical ideas about the parallel genre, as well as to identify its additional characteristics and features.

The article deals with the nature of an anniversary article, a special genre of mass periodicals and journalese literary criticism of the late 19th – early 20th centuries/ The research is based on ample source material in a literary-critical and historical-literary vein. The introduction examines theoretical works devoted to various aspects of this genre, and formulates the research task – to identify additional characteristics and features of publications of this type.
